This a large building pad we built for a customer in Elizabeth, Colorado. The pad is built with clean fill dirt we produced on site. It is the lighter colored material in the middle of this photo. All the disturbed area’s around the site have been covered with top soil and ready for drill seeding which we will do soon. Oh yes…since you asked… It took 4 days to create and the pad was laser leveled flat to perfection. Everyone was happy. If you need some earth moved in your neck of the woods…be it Elizabeth, Castle Rock, Parker or somewhere nearby – give us a call!
Finishing off the Horse Arena Footing
We just finished off a beautiful horse arena in Douglas County, Colorado by adding 2 1/2 inches of sand footing spread evenly over the clay Sub-base. The arena is about 75′ x 175′ and is going to make a couple horses happier than most people as they ride around inside on the perfect footing we just laid down. We have been working on this horse arena for some time doing excavation finish work on the outside plus laying down the clay sub base. The clay is great for a horse arena because we’ll laser level it so its perfectly flat and over time the clay will pack down hard and retain its flat shape. We trucked in 175 tons of sand and smoothed it all perfectly to create the beautifully finished riding surface you see in the photo.
Yes, yes…we know the horses will love it but most of all the horse owner loves it which keeps us in business. If you happen to have horses that might need some ground in your horse arena that’s foot friendly…give Dirt Dogs Excavating a call!
Horse Arena Footing
When the owner of this top end horse arena in Douglas County, Colorado needed a clay sub-base footing installed. Guess who he called? Dirt Dogs Excavating, Grading and Earth Moving…that’s us! Did you know…A “perfect” riding surface (or footing) should be cushioned, provide traction, and be not too slick or dusty, not overly abrasive to horse hooves and easy to maintain. There are a number of footing surfaces and solutions available and every cowboy (and cowgirl) can get what they want AND get our professional advice when they work with us!
But back to this beautiful horse arena job…the owner knew we had great recommendations and reviews but when combined with the fact that we had already done an excellent job finish grading his exterior…we were a natural fit! Notice how level and smooth the inside of his beautiful horse arena is. In case you’re curious, we laser leveled it perfectly flat and drum rolled in for compaction. This step is the final step before we install the sand footing. We only use a clay sub-base on indoor arenas. We were told his horse started to cry tears of joy because it was so happy with our wonderful work! Giddy up and give us a call when you’re ready to get your horse arena in gear and in top shape…we’ve got the technology and many years of experience you can trust to do the job right!
Horse Arena Laser Leveling
Horse Barn Finish Grade
Dirt Dogs Excavation recently provided finish grading along the exterior of a very large horse arena in Douglas County, Colorado. It was done using a track sled which works best on sloping areas. This horse arena measures 20′ by 170′. Some locals spotted our finish grade and commented …. “that’s so smooth you could just about play pool on the smoothed out surface – it’s a thing of beauty!”
We don’t like to brag (too much) but we do know how to handle excavation and finish grade work around horse barns and arenas!
Trenching Water Line
Dirt Dogs Excavating recently dug another water line trench to help connect water to new customers in the fast growing Douglas County, Colorado area. Our trenches are a thing of beauty, perhaps because we are experts at what we do? Even if you don’t think a dirt trench is beautiful those trenches serve a valuable purpose – they bring in your utilities to your property so you can enjoy things like water, gas and electricity all from the comfort of your home. In case you didn’t know…water trenches are dug 5 feet down to keep the water from freezing. In Douglas County we often have to dig right through a tough environment of scrub oak and brush. When all the pipe is laid we’ll come back to the project and back fill it so its nice an pretty…all smoothed out so you never knew we were there once the grass grows back.
We offer trenching from 4” wide to 30” wide and depths as deep as 10 feet. And we have been digging trenches all over the front range of Colorado for decades. When you want a trench dug perfectly and at a fair price give us a call.
You can trust Dirt Dogs Excavating to do your trenching project right. For that matter…we can take care of excavating your road and drive way to that nice new home or ranch too! Just remember…when you’re dreaming of the pretty new house on the hill…we’re dreaming of beautiful dirt trenches and maybe uncovering a few gold nuggets while were at it.
Horse Arena Rubber Footing Surface
Dirt Dogs Excavation recently provided horse arena excavating services a large outdoor horse arena in Douglas County, Colorado. We used laser leveling technology to make it perfectly level and finished it all off with a high-end rubber footing made of recycled, crushed yoga mats. This footing material is a premium footing additive which is a rubber blend is free from potentially harmful chemicals. One advantage is that this type of footing will not freeze during the winter cold. Its high quality materials, natural rubber and an interlocking textile web provide great rigidity and a durable, long-lasting outcome. Dirt Dogs Excavating has decades of experience working working on equestrian centers and arenas throughout the front range of Colorado.
When your horses deserve the best…give Dirt Dogs a call and avoid the rest!
Rock Retaining Wall Construction
As a part of a larger indoor horse arena project Dirt Dogs Excavation recently built a large rock retaining wall for a ranch owner in Douglas County, Colorado. The property owner needed to have us prepare, excavate and laser level ground for a new horse area which needed to be cut into the earth to save room for a driveway and road. In order to hold back the cut in the earth we needed to move a large amount of heavy boulders which we were able to pull from his own property to form the retaining wall.
Our loader can lift about 20,000 tons at a time. A number of these boulders pushed our equipment to the limit on this job. Over 2-3 days we moved and stacked about 1000 tons of rock to create a permanent, boulder-based rock retaining wall.
Once the new indoor horse arena is complete we’ll be coming back to finish the job, laser leveling and moving in the right type of material for the footing.
By the way, when it comes to footing materials for horse arenas, we can get ANY type of horse footing materials you may need. In fact we recently had horse footing gravel brought in all the way from a special site in New York to make a perfect footing surface for a world class horse barn in Douglas County.
